I rarely buy my favorite shows related-merchandise because it all just ends up gathering dust in some abandoned corner of my home…
But when I saw this Fuji TV Liar Game 2 Key Chain, it was total WANT.
But of course it was sold out.
What is this… MY LIFE…
Aren’t these the cutest fruit miniatures ever?
Trust me, they are more than edible.
These little gems are a Thai dessert known as Luk Chup, made from mung bean flour and were historically served as sweetmeats for Thai royalty. A client brought us these for us during a visit and they were almost too pretty to be eaten.
Well, like I said, almost.
While I’ve spent so much time squealing about the cuteness of my OTP in Majisuka Gakuen 2, it occurs to me that I’ve never talked about the first Majisuka Gakuen that got me into the whole AKB franchise.
Unlike the recently concluded sequel where I only hung around to roll my eyes at the “friendship” of Center and Nezumi, the first Majisuka Gakuen worked so well because of Atsumina’s back story driving the main narrative, making it on the whole, a much more satisfying viewing experience.
(If you haven’t seen the original series, read spoilers of the arc after the cut at your own risk!)
At the end of a particular trying day, I find it hard to decide between a nice cool beer or a blissful hot cup of java before heading home.
Presenting a new solution to my two-drinks answer; the Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout.
An artisan beer from one of Japan’s earliest craft breweries, the Kiuchi Brewery in Ibaraki, I found the combination of coffee and stout a blissful if somewhat heavy tasting drink.
Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds?

Last week, while waiting for friends at a cafe, I was half-way through Nick Bilton’s I Live In The Future & Here’s How It Works, when I looked up to see a bespectacled man at an opposing table, staring intently at his iPad.
The irony made me chortle a little; here I was (in Bilton’s description) a Digital Immigrant, perusing a paper and glue bound library book about embracing the digital era while my neighbour was fixated on the latest model of a modern tablet.
Over dinner with fellow-j-drama connoisseur, Alien:
Alien: What are you watching nowadays?
Me: I haven’t seen anything new this season yet.
Alien: Trying to impose some limitations? But you are watching something?
Me: Er, well, kind of. I’ve been er, watching this midnight drama…
Alien: Really? What is it about?
Me: Er… well, it’s an old midnight drama you know? Madcap, lame, low budget sort of thing… It’s kind of an idol drama.
Alien: *suspicious* What do you mean by “kind of”?
Me: Well… It features three members of AKB… And you know, I’ve recently become really fond of the group and Takamina (although she’s not my oshimen) because of her variety show appearances…
Alien’s reaction (and possibly many of my gal friends when they hear about this):
